The Urban Paw is insured, bonded, and a registered dog walking and pet sitting business of San Francisco founded and owned by Emy Sakai. Emy is also a member of SF Professional Dog Walkers, SF Sitters, Professional United Pet Sitters, and Pet Sitters Associates, LLC. She offers off-leash exercise and playtime at a fenced-in, 3 acre private ranch. Up to 1.5 hours of exercise and socialization with a pack in a safe and controlled environment. She takes great pride and joy in what she does, and cares for each individual pet as if they were her own.

I offer compassionate care and love to our guests in my home in downtown San Francisco. I live with my partner Brian and Dog Henry and cat Ellie.

I have always had a deep love and passion for dogs. Their loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love have always fascinated me. So, it was only natural for me to turn my passion into a business. Twelve years ago, I decided to start a dog walking business. I wanted to provide a reliable and trustworthy service for pet owners who needed someone to care for their furry friends when they couldn’t be there themselves. I focused on building my credibility and knowledge. I attended dog training and behavior classes to understand how to handle different breeds and temperaments. Additionally, I obtained certifications in pet first aid and CPR to ensure I could provide the necessary care.

I am a force free dog walker certified through Dog Biz. I've have cared for my own pups for 20 plus years. I offer private and group walks for small to medium size dogs, as well as boarding in my home.

Specializing in solo R+ walks, on leash (long lead) for dogs experiencing reactivity and animal communication techniques to assist in understanding your dogs behavioral patterns and individual needs. This approach leads to an outcome of people who feel confident and safe navigating the world with their dogs. Walks are enrichment focused allowing them to use their brain and senses to unwind. For my clients who are actively working with an R+ trainer I am in regular contact with that trainer to support you and your dog’s training journey. I only board dogs that are enrolled in my daily group walks. I walk dogs of all shapes and sizes even though my profile says I only walk small dogs. I don't know how that happened or how to change it.

I started Rad Rover because I want to help those who want to do better for their dogs who wouldn't otherwise have access to this kind of support. Compassion for people wanting to do better for their dogs is just as important as compassion for our animals. Using trauma informed care strategies that I previously learned and used while working in nonprofit housing, I aim to help educate and build relationships with people about their dogs needs. Unlike a lot of local walkers, we are breed inclusive and understand that people are products of their situations and context.
